From Madrid to Lisbon was the first overnight of mine on train, I felt no sleep at all, but I napped. We arrived Lisbon at 8 am in the morning.

Lisbon was the most beautiful city we have seen since we started our trip. It's colorful ceramic decoration buildings, lively by yellow and red classic trams all around the old hilly city, apart of all, the hanging clothes on balconies!!



The hostel we stayed in Lisbon named "Lisbon Poet Hostel" is gorgeous, I would recommend everyone to stay here. After walking around all day finished at a Castle on top hill in the evening orange light for photo. Then we decided to have Portuguese food, steam cod fish, bbq fish, and house spaghetti, 31 EU for 3 persons. So full slept well.

   

Aug 17, 09

Lisbon one more day. Visit Museum National of Archaeology in the morning. Took a tram to the Cathedral, a monument and a beautiful fortress beside the River at noon where we had sandwiches. I sketched the 3rd drawing of the trip, water coloring. After laying down under the big tree for 5 minutes we continue the route by tram.

In the afternoon we went to new part of the city. I took many pictures of modern buildings for office works, I hope.

   

We leaved Lisbon at 21.30 pm arrived Madrid 9.00 am and catch 10.00 am train to Barcelona, will arrived BCN at 13.30 pm. of the 8th day of our trip. Ah...

The train to Saville was white and clean, very few people on the train. Our seats were right in the center of the bogey which 2 seats turning back for group of 4 with table in the middle. Cheu and I could wrote a lot of postcards while traveling from 8.00 to 10.30 am.

The hostel in Seville "the Oasis" was at back conner of a church and our room open to a small plaza with very very big tree and children playground. For the first meal here we had lunch in the restaurant very expensive one.

It was very hot and strong sun shine, starting the afternoon walk with ice creams, we walked in narrow street from church to church, very colorful each one, and finally, the Cathedral & the Giralda. Supin found the way to go up the roof terrace of an office building just in front of the side door of the Cathedral. So delighted to see that we were at the same level of the french stain glasses window at top arch of the side door. We took a lots of photo of flying-buttress and other decoration ornaments of the church and wanted to come back again in the evening for special sun light of the day.

 

I insist to go to "Alcaza" or Palace that evening since the next day will be the holy holiday of Spain "the Assumption Day" and it might be closed. We could not miss the place.

This palace was occupied by many rulers for thousand years continuously, from the Moors to the Christian. Every conquerors used this place as there palaces and built on top of the former constructions. The Mudjar style was the greatest of all architectural style, complete dome, ceramic tiles and everything else.



We spent all afternoon there in the Moors Palace and in the Parks. Cheu and Supin enjoyed photographing many techniques: in hall, at veranda, loggia, and else, very very creative photographer she is.

15 August _ the Assumption Day the day when Maria and her colonies went to heaven. Spain celebrates all through the country.

We could enter the Cathedral for free. Christopher Columbus was buried in this Cathedral, his monument is great.

We walked to the river passed the bull fighting arena to the Torros del Oro, I sat down on steps near a Japanese guy and sketched this Moorish Tower beside Rio Guadalquavir. We had sandwiches and boiled eggs as lunch there.



Plaza de Espana was the last place in this city we visit. This half moon shape arena, rich decoration was the location for the film _ Star War.

We went back to hostel to prepare oneself fresh for night travelling on train to Lisbon, the Portugal.

Hostel Oasis, Plaza Encrmacion 29, Sevilla, is top international standard. Benefit by house dinner at roof terrace, nice atmosphere and good foods 5 EU: Espana foods, Greek foods and else.

August 12, 09

We got up very early in the morning, I prepared special sandwiches for all.

We hurriedly rushed to the train station to catch the 7.50 am train to "Toledo" as been booked yesterday evening. At the gate about 100 people waited for that train. At depart time the officers came, announced something in Spanish then they brought us, the long queue passengers, marched to outside of the train station and took all of us on 2 BUSES !!

About 1 hour toToledo. The buses stop at TRAIN station, we walked along the Rio Tajo, decided to have our delicious sandwiches beside the river, the earth tone Toledo city in the background.

 

Toledo, the capital of Visigoths since 6th century A.D., a melting place of Christian, Muslim and Jewish, elevation 655m, La Mancha District. About three quarters of the city was surrounded by Rio Tajo and the rest by Roman city walls. Many beautiful bridges across the river to the city gates.

"Don Quixote de la Mancha" greeted us at the gate we entered Puerta de Doce Cantos, the city gate . Impressed me very much.

 

We explored the Alcaza fortress and part of old city around this ancient palace. Ended route at the most outstanding place - the Cathedral.

After that we celebrated my birthday in a good restaurant, good food and wine.

 

In the afternoon we walked zig zag to another end of city wall. Followed the escalaters down to new area, then we were in front of Puerta de Alfronso, another city gate, Supin and Cheu slept under a big trees there while I sketched the first drawing of my trip. (At the end of the trip I found out that this drawing is the best out of 5 sketches I made in this trip)

We walked back to train station but again the officers said no train even we shew the booked tickets to them. Came back to bus terminal, bought 3 auto bus tickets to go back to Madrid.


That night Supin and Cheu surprised me by presenting very special cakes for my 55th birthday small party at Hostel One in Madrid.

Slept deeply that night.

August 11, 09

We, Supin-Cheu-Chomphrai, started the 1st day of our trip by walking around "Plaza Mayor¨" of Madrid, the capital of Spain.

This rectangular plaza is surrounded by huge and magnificent 6-7 storeys row-houses, and could be entered through many vaults beneath the row-houses. So we walked into the square one side, photo, and out from another side, then walked around the part of old city, visit some small churches, and walked in to this square again through other side, and out the other side, 4 sides complete!! All routes were well planned by Supin our navigator. Cheu and I, we were out of route sometimes. We discovered a secret old stairs way (in my imaginary) at a corner of Plaza Mayor, climbed up and found the ancient windows to take good top view of the old city.



We had good traditional Spain foods for lunch, just 18 Euro for all ha ha (18 EU x 50=900 B.)

Spent one afternoon in Museum National del Prado. Saw many great paintings of Spain, a lots by Goya, Rembrandt, Rubens..... I love to see El Greco´s works, he was a great inventor in painting, a lot of his works are from above, bird´s eyes views.

We walked to train station to book the train tickets to Toledo for tomorrow trip.

The train station is so so great, it has tropical palm tree and banana tree inside !! I will show you the pictures when I back home.

 
Then we took metro to our hostel, did a little shopping in supermarket for foods, we had mama with ham and eggs for dinner. Then Cheu went out again at 21.30 pm to meet her friend. She always carry her heavy camera bag even at night time.

End of day 1 when I dressed in red.

one weekend @ Rai Sor Boonmeerit, Kanchanaburi admiration of jupiter, moon, stars, flowers, trees, and fruits & watercolor paint practicing with Ajarn Noppadon Neddee it took 3 hours for my panorama painting and half an hour for one postcard i paint 6 postcards and this is the only one i kept for myself no photographer could take this view since it is not exist .... it's beyond my (and your) imagination :P
